… tagalog culture possessed the artistic prowess and talent, most of all the discipline and patience required in constant pruning and shaping which are taxing for most hobbyists, though some may have the knack in spotting, shaping and maintaining these precious trees with ease.

… when the koreans, chinese and japanese wanderers came to the island of Luzon long long time ago, they naturally found different species of plants and trees in the mountains and along the surrounding coasts of the island of gold.

… all throughout the varying seasons, the islands in luzon are continuously battered by typhoons and uncontrollable winds due to this very natural environmental set-up …

… all the magnificent shapes or contours of the indigenous trees of the islands are continuously displayed by nature to the eyes of the world; similar practices also exist in other cultures, including the chinese tradition of penjing from which the japanese bonzai originated.

… the same with the miniature living landscapes of vietnamese hòn non bộ. and more relevant is the fact that these small or miniature trees still survive the elements while living in the mountains of luzon without any benefit from pots as they used to where only stones or rocks serve as their bases or natural containers.

… making use of the term bonsai as an umbrella term for all miniature trees can be a misnomer as “bon” is actually a tray-like pot.
