432nd blog … the terrier, sakdalista, death of the spirit and the carrot cake … heheheh!

In the island of hawaii, they prayed:

may the earth continue to live
may the heavens continue to live
may the rains continue to dampen the land
may the wet forests continue to grow
then the flowers shall bloom
and we people shall live again.

whereas in the other side far west of the great pacific, i prayed and sang the same tune, the same song, with a tribe:

Goose bumps, aka goose pimples, goose flesh, chill bumps, chicken skin, people bumps in english … they are bumps on a person’s skin at the base of body hairs which involuntarily develop when a person is cold or experiences a strong and extra-ordinary emotion such as fear or awe when one listens intently to a particular singing voice … alam na alam ito ng mga tagalog bilang kilabot sa balat o kinilabutan o makapanindig-balahibo na lalong pinahirap sa inimbentong pangalan na cutis anserina ng mga nagduktor … hindi damdaming-itik o bibe o pato o manok, bagkus ay damdaming pantao lamang na nadarama at namamalas sa pamamagitan ng mga kilabot sa balat o paninidig ng balahibo, hindi ng itik, bibe, pato o manok … o ano? maliwanag ba? … heheheh!

I am the spirit within the earth
The feet of the earth are my feet
The legs of the earth are my legs
The strength of the earth is my strength
The thoughts of the earth are my thoughts
The voice of the earth are my voice
The feather of the earth is my feather
All that belongs to the earth belongs to me
All that surrounds the earth surrounds me
I, I am the sacred works of the earth
It is lovely indeed, it is lovely indeed
I am the spirit within the earth
The feet of the earth are my feet
The legs of the earth are my legs
The strength of the earth is my strength
The thoughts of the earth are my thoughts
The voice of the earth are my voice
The feather of the earth is my feather
All that belongs to the earth belongs to me
All that surrounds the earth surrounds me
I, I am the sacred works of the earth
It is lovely indeed, it is lovely indeed

while the others continue to shout to the heavens the same prayer, the same song in the island of luzon …
and the politicians in the government and the plutocrats endlessly persist in implementing their plans of raping the lands …

in the great mountains colonially named as “sierra madre”, landfill projects are on the go to bury their garbages, in addition to the various dams and mining sites already put in place where they already amassed wealth and fortune in cutting trees to change the face of the earth little by little in order to bury deep in history a very indigenous beginning …

mount mataba with 1,470 ft. peak in san mateo, a forgotten place in an old kingdom known then as mabunga, competes majestically trying to reach high to the heavens above with other mountains called as pakawagan, binitayan, pamitinan, kampana, lamita, limila, bantangan and haponang baboy while overlooking the smaller mountains in antipolo, teresa and nearby towns for a view of susong dalaga and the twin lakes of manila …

i digress for a while, teresa was previously named oroquieta and santa rosa before and all because of political and wealth interests prevailing then and now when suddenly i came back to the old when i was much younger and spending my leisure times in the mountain corners of our lands …

when i remember the name henerala salud, a truly erect who came to our place in pasig to have a  tete-a-tete with my older brother in the 1960’s while she was over 70 years old having feast with forgotten stories of the katipunan  … without forgetting the year she was in kabuyaw – 1894.

being a very young teen then, i held my ground just milling around but intently listening to their conversation at the same time gazing at the barefoot grand woman in “saya” who came by walking in the streets as she used to do during her sakdalista days …

the lady guest was relating experiences about her own history adorned with torture moments while being incarcerated in bilibid,  but still fighting and condemning the idea of commonwealth under quezon and the americans who ran tha tagalog affairs like hell …

i cannot forget the old and anciently long pathways of “daang-hari” of the past which traversed around the lakes of katagalugan, and talking with pride in her heart her trooping literally the jungles of “lawang babayi” and “lawang maynilad” with her fellow sakdalistas …

she could pray a litany of given names of the rivers that emerged through the “ilog wawa” that was the authentic identity of all rivers of “amang bundok” that i found out later on to be true ..

when i realized that i already met her mystical figure somewhere in pamitinan and binitayan of san mateo a few years back when she was a little bit younger having a lively talk with kaingeros whom i befriended in the earlier years …

only lately that i knew she was not really a general but she was a genuine “mandirigma” from kabuyaw under the magdiwang of katipunan, who continued the advocacy for independence along with macario sakay and licerio geronimo after andres bonifacio was murdered by the magdalo faction of aginaldo …

salud algabre, born in 1894,  was actually married to a man whose clan name was generalla, and her being a henerala was due to her tenacity and viciousness in fighting for the magdiwang advocacy …

one story that i learned not written in any history books was the exchanging bullets encounter with american troops while riding a horse in the sakdalista pursuit of the enemies, as she rallied her fellow soldiers of the republika ng katagalog to be relentlessly unafraid, armed only with a raised bolo in her hand …

probably, that was the reason why she sought out the sibling of mine when she learned that he is a pinga … clearly in my mind, she knew the factual history of our name sans any single abomination of the fake heritage that was being written in the history books by shallow-minded and colonially-educated historians …

not to mention the fact that henerala salud was very mystical with her adornment of “sacred” scriptures that were being studied between her and my brother in a very paranormal way … i was not alone looking at them with amazement  but with another pinga whom i learned to be the father of documentary films of the country whose visit coincided with the henerala’s …

back to mt. mataba, the prayer for heavens and earth to continue living, the land, the forest the flowers and the people to grow and live again shall not be heard because of the governance and its politicians have blindfolded their eyes, dampened their senses and dreams to bury the lost glory of the island of luzon because of the death of the spirit of magdiwang  …
